Sometimes distractions are worth it!

Recently my time has been consumed by creating a new course, Essentials of Conscious Entrepreneurship. I've been spending a lot of time in my office compiling video, going over content, learning how to set up an online program on my website, creating landing pages, recording voice over... you get the picture.

Distractions have been my nemesis.

The phone rings. An email catches my attention. A task seems to want to take top priority. All of these things and more distract me from what I'm trying to do.

So much so that I've had to be very diligent to turn my phone to do not disturb mode when creating. I close all unnecessary browser windows to minimize distractions. I fill my water bottle and make my tea before I sit down. Clutter has to go or at least be put out of site while working.

Then taking a few moments to let go of all the mind clutter and dropping into an inner space is also part of my ritual. Followed by surrendering to the process and asking for help from my "team".

All good preparation to minimize distraction, right?

Fortunately and unfortunately my office has sliding glass doors that look out over the water, the sound. This morning the migrations of the Northern Flickers caught my eye. These beautiful bird with a distinctive red Y at the back of the head are members of the woodpecker family.

At this time of year they migrate through my area. Their coloration and fast movement caught my eye. I got distracted. My excitement was palpable as I grabbed my camera and left my office to engage with the visitors.

And then I noticed something in the marsh moving. Four deer were having a morning stroll and frolic in the grasses of the marsh. (see video above). Wow. My energy and excitement definitely felt elevated.

Distractions are worth it at those times when...

  • they encourage and invite you to raise your vibration

  • they elevate your excitement

  • they inspire you

  • and when they fill you with AWE!

Those energies are the energies you want to infuse into the vibration and frequency of your message and creations.

So sometimes give yourself permission to be distracted.

Gorgeous distractions in your magnificent view into the marsh and the glorious water beyond. A sanctuary of distractions worthy of your attention. As I opened and listened, the bird's calls in your video seemed to mirror the ones in my own garden filled with beautiful distractions.
